During my early exposure to digital picture frames, I was in a store standing by the sales display for this technology, and noticed a curious response. A store customer was passing by the display, looking like they were day dreaming about something, then they suddenly stopped in their tracks and started looking at the pictures being displayed on one of the frames on sale in the store. A bit later, two more shoppers came by the display, and they exhibited the same response. One shopper started speaking to the other, saying how interesting and clever the picture frame idea was in her opinion, and she told her friend that she was planning to purchase several of the picture frames as gifts for her family. After seeing this kind of positive response and interest, my commercial mind got busy concluding that if showing pictures on these frames could sell the picture frame as merchandise, why not see how well pictures in these frames could sell other kinds of merchandise. Thus, the idea of digital picture frame promotional products was born. In practice, the sensory experience delivered by this technology is one more way to make an impression on potential customers. In my own application, I prefer to create pleasant visual images like the one below. There are many other possibilities available in this relatively new media for promotional approaches.
