Sometimes when setting up a sequence of commemorative photos in my digital picture frame, I like to alternate between a baseline matted photo, and a subsequent image of the same matted photo with the superimposed text appearing.  This gives the effect of the writing appearing and disappearing alternately as the images play out in the frame.  This makes for some nice variety in my photo presentations.  For a higher resolution look at the image, click on the picture.
