One of my favorite American Volkssport Association events of the year is the Lights on the Plaza walk sponsored by the Clay-Platte Trackers of Kansas City, Missouri.  The sponsoring club offered IVV credit only for this walk.  In past years, I have collected a lot of awards for the walk, and have been disappointed not to see any awards offered to commemorate the event in recent years.  To remedy this situation, I am offering 3 digital award designs to choose from for this year’s event.   I am posting the designs here for anyone who might like to purchase some copies for $3 each.

05 Dec 2010 Volksmarch Awards – 2010

Yesterday marked another traditional volkswalk event in Kansas City Missouri with the annual Plaza Lights Walk, sponsored by the Clay Platte Trackers of Kansas City.  I have attended the event for a number of years now, and it is always a fun and beautiful place to go this time of year.  Since there were no A awards available at the walk, I designed my own commemorative digital award to remember the experience.  If you are a club leader or a walker who likes awards, but have no more room to store them, consider the virtual option to keep incentives alive, and have something inexpensive and memorable to offer your local achievers.

If you would like to know more about AVA activities, visit http://www.ava.org for more information about how to participate in these non-competitive activities.  Happy walking.

My next award design commemorates the American Volkssport Association’s walk in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, sponsored by the Ozark Hill Hikers club.  This walk starts at the famed Crescent Hotel and takes walkers past the wonderful shops in downtown Eureka Springs.  Starting at the hotel saves driving and parking in the congested downtown district, but takes you through the steep hilly streets.  Plenty of time should be allotted for this interesting walk, which is not for the faint of heart.  The club does not offer an award for the walk, so I made the one that follows to remember it by.  For more official information about the AVA and the benefits of walking, visit http://www.ava.org/ .  If you are a member of a club and would like me to design an award for your event, drop me an email.  Awards make great incentives for the walks, and my award designs are great for saving space.

The next walk sponsored by the American Volkssport Association, and the Dogwood Trailblazers I visited took place in Branson Missouri along lake Taneycomo, historic Branson, and the new Branson Landing area.  The event was a credit only walk, so my own offering for a volkssport award design is a nice reminder to have for those who visit this event.  There was a fog on the lake when we walked past the landing, so my photo captured some fog in the shot.  If you are a member of a walking club, and would like me to design a digital award for your event, just drop me an email.  For more information about the AVA, visit http://www.ava.org/ and experience their walks for yourself.

03 Aug 2010 Volkswalk Awards – 2010

Because of the benefits and efforts of the American Volkssport Association, I have decided to add my own efforts in promoting the organization’s sponsored events, by offering some commemorative volkssport award designs related to various walks I visit throughout the year.  A recent trip to Springfield, Missouri took us to a walk in Sequiota Park, sponsored by the Dogwood Trailblazers club.  After going on this walk, one of the most interesting sights turned out to be in the park itself, right at the starting point.  The little lake and cave in the park made a nice photo opportunity, so I used one of my pictures to create the award.  By creating my own walking awards, I have been able to save some wall space currently taken up by physical awards from 1000 kilometers worth of previous walking events.  If you are a member of a walking club, and would like me to design a digital award for your event, just drop me an email.  For more information about the AVA, visit http://www.ava.org/ and experience their walks for yourself.

Continuing in my desire to recognize memorable volkswalks sponsored by the American Volkssport Association, the next commemorative award highlights the Oklahoma City Capital Walk.  When I visited Oklahoma City, the walk included a visit to the Oklahoma City Memorial honoring those who died in the bombing that happened years back.  The area is a beautiful and quiet place which is worth seeing.  If you would like to know more about AVA activities, visit http://www.ava.org for more information about how to participate in these non-competitive activities.  Happy walking.

One attractive aspect of American Volkssport Association sponsored events are the awards offered by clubs to encourage event participation.  These awards often take the form of patches, trinkets, pins, and other types of small reminders that add up quickly.  In fact, for those who love these awards as I do, the volume of patches and objects can soon add up to such a large quantity, it is hard to find ways to display them all.  Looking for ways to be rewarded and avoid the clutter, I came up with the idea of virtual awards like the ones I have been showcasing on this site.  The virtual awards allow walkers to earn the recognition, collect memories from many different event locations, and store hundreds of different award designs without taking up more space than a CD, sandisk, or flash drive can store.  There are also a large variety of ways these images can be displayed via prints, digital photo frames, computer screen wallpapers, slide-shows, screen savers, and image viewers.  It is like having all the benefits, and none of the wear and tear found with conventional awards.  Of course, this recognition still has to be earned in order to be legitimately received, but it is an ongoing way for walkers who love awards to keep getting recognition without the clutter.

If you are a club leader or a walker who likes awards, but have no more room to store them, consider the virtual option to keep incentives alive, and have something inexpensive and memorable to offer your local achievers.

The next award was designed to recognize another nice self-guided walk in Austin, Texas.  For more information about the AVA, visit http://www.ava.org and get started seeing what this wonderful activity has to offer.  To see a higher resolution version of the award, click on the image.

As part of my personal celebration of American Volkssport Association events, I have decided to offer commemorative awards to highlight the activity, and bring back memories of my favorite places.  My next commemorative award celebrates the San Antonio Churches walk, with a matted photo of one point of interest along the route.  This award features the small church where former President Lyndon Johnson was married.  For more information about the AVA, and the activities they offer, go to http://www.ava.org/ and discover the beauty America has to offer.  Click on the image for a look in higher resolution.

Among my all time favorite walks sponsored by the American Volkssport Association is the San Antonio Riverwalks.  This year, they are sponsoring two walks, the Riverwalk – North and the Riverwalk – South.  San Antonio is a city that is a delight every time I visit, and part of our ritual is to take as many of the AVA sponsored walks as we can in that city.  To commemorate one of them, I have created an award that adds beauty to the memories of walking along in this incomparably beautiful and scenic attraction.  For a higher resolution look at the award, click on the image.  For more information about the AVA, and the activities they offer, go to http://www.ava.org/ and discover the beauty America has to offer.

In Dallas Texas, one of the American Volkssport Association sponsored walks I took was the White Rock Lake walk.  A plus on this trip was passing by the Dallas Arboretum.  Though the trip did not take us through that site, we got a few glimpses through the back fence along the route, and I thought we might go back there and explore the arboretum at some point in the future.  Although it was a cloudy day, the trek was a memorable event of our vacation trip.  For a higher resolution look at the award, click on the image.  For more information about the AVA, and the activities they offer, go to http://www.ava.org/ and discover the beauty America has to offer.
